Katie Omundson

Violin

Katie Omundson is an active performer throughout the DFW area, playing with the UTA Symphony Orchestra (concertmaster) and chamber ensembles, the Bluebird String Quartet, the Brazos Chamber Orchestra (alternate concertmaster), the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra (associate concertmaster), and the Central Texas Medical Orchestra. She is currently in the bachelor of music program at the University of Texas at Arlington studying with Dr. Martha Walvoord, and she has also studied with Diane Kitzman, Molly Dumm and Anne Nagosky. Also a registered nurse, Katie holds a degree in nursing from Cleveland State University, and is in her 15th year of work in the profession. 

Mark Sanchez

Violin

Mark Sanchez received his Bachelor’s in Music Education from Baylor University and his Master of Music in Instrumental Studies with a Concentration in Violin Performance at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During his studies he has worked with renowned violinist Eugene Cherkasov, Dr. Eka Gogigashvili, Dr. Kirsten Yon, William Preucil, and Dr. Elizabeth Adkins. Mark is currently pursuing a Performer’s Diploma at Southern Methodist University under the tutelage of Diane Kitzman. Mark has performed as a section violinist with the Waco Symphony and Temple Symphony, and currently serves as a principal violinist with the Brazos Chamber Orchestras and performs with the Mansfield Philharmonic. He and his wife Keji were selected to perform for the prestigious annual Stephen Barr Memorial Concert Series at Texas Wesleyan University in 2018. In 2023 he premiered as a soloist with the Mansfield Philharmonic. Mark teaches students privately, freelances, and performs with his wife and the Bluebird Quartet.

Abigail Jennings

Viola

A founding member of the Bluebird Quartet, Abigail Jennings enjoys exploring new repertoire for string quartet and performing recitals and gigs around DFW with the quartet. Abigail performs with the UTA Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony, and San Angelo Symphony, and she was awarded second place at the New Texas Symphony concerto competition in 2022. She is currently studying viola performance with Catherine Forbes at the University of Texas at Arlington, and past teachers include Misha Galaganov and Laurielle Warren. She holds a bachelor’s degree in writing from TCU and worked in book publishing before returning to school to study music. A passionate music educator, Abigail has a vibrant violin and viola studio and strives to foster her students’ love of music and their confidence to share it with others. 

Travis Calvert

Cello

Travis Calvert began studying cello in high school with Paula Walker and former Fort Worth symphony member Monte Knutson. As a student, Travis was a member of the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra and the TCU Symphony. While at TCU he also had opportunity to study chamber music with violinist Frank Almond. Travis has performed with a number orchestras, including the Wichita Falls Symphony, the New Philharmonic Orchestra Irving, the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra, the Mansfield Philharmonic, and the Northeast Orchestra of Tarrant County. Travis has been active in chamber music through the Chamber Music Roundup Academy at TCU, and he organizes and directs an annual summer chamber music workshop for amateur players sponsored by the Northeast Orchestra. As a member of the Bluebird Quartet, Travis enjoys the opportunity to play string quartets recitals, at weddings, and at church concerts.
